About The Vacancy

Job Description	An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Design Engineer, within a highly regarded company specialising in the design and manufacture of Specialist Camera and PTZ Systems for Government and Military Customers. Successful applicants will have an excellence grasp of practical mechanical design of enclosures, waterproof housings and simple electrically driven mechanisms for use with electronic products. The role requires an independent engineer, capable of interpreting a customer requirement and then designing, prototyping and testing their solutions bringing each project to a successful conclusion. A good knowledge of small standard DC motors, standard gears and off-the-shelf mechanical components is essential, as is a good understanding basic electronics. Candidates should have experience of mechanical design-and-build projects, low volume manufacturing techniques and the preparation of technical documentation such at 2D technical drawings, bills of material and production notes. Candidates will be required to demonstrate a good knowledge of basic mechanical design such as: • Basic Mechanism Sizing (Force, Torque, Speed & Power) • Calculation of Weight & CG Estimation • Gear Ratios • Spring Systems • Sealing • Basic Electronics • Manufacturing Processes
Experience Required	Ideal Candidates will be HND or Degree Qualified in Mechanical Engineering, though this is not essential
Qualifications	The candidate will have 5-10 years of mechanical design experience. Solidworks competency would be preferred, but is not essential as training will be provided.
