Challenge

Previously using Inventor, Fugro Seacore embarked on rigorous testing to find a system that would reduce cost as well as streamline and speed up their design process. Their existing process, which relies heavily on analysis to ensure equipment is fail-safe, involved 6 different types of software. Key design challenges include building complex equipment that is ‘right first time,’ under tight deadlines, without prototypes.

Weldment design and multibody features in particular were critical to cut design time by 25%. By using SolidWorks Simulation, the integrated analysis tool, within SolidWorks, Seacore can validate their designs instantly without the need to modify and convert the original model. SolidWorks Enterprise PDM allowed Seacore’s design team to better manage product data, share design information and automate workflow, all within one integrated system.
