What is KeyShot?

3D Rendering & Animation

KeyShot is a fast and easy to use 3D rendering and animation partner product. In just a few steps you can create amazing looking images from your 3D SOLIDWORKS models that can be used throughout the product development process to make design decisions and quickly create variations of concepts for customer, manufacturing or marketing.

KeyShot features tools and the fastest workflow for creating still and animated visuals. Within a few minutes, apply scientifically accurate materials, work with textures and labels, adjust HDRI and physical lighting, move your camera for the perfect shot, create animation and interactive KeyShotVR’s and see it all happen in real-time.

HOW KEYSHOT WORKS

1 - Import your 3D model

With KeyShot open you can import your SOLIDWORKS data directly. KeyShot has a SOLIDWORKS plugin to enable LiveLinking. This allows you to continue refining your SOLIDWORKS model, then send all changes over to KeyShot with the click of a button.

2 - Paint your model

Use any of the 700+ scientifically accurate materials from the material library by simply copying and pasting them onto the model. You will instantly see what your design will look like, with the given material, colour, and finish, under the current lighting conditions.

3 - Choose your lighting

Simply select an environment image (HDRI). As soon as you change the lighting environment you will notice the effect the real world lighting captured in those environments has on materials, colours and finishes.

4 - Adjust your camera

Framing your scene is just like using a real camera. You can change angle, distance and twist. You can control perspective with focal length and field of view settings and you can easily add depth of field to your scene.

5 - Adjust your background

Quickly and interactively cycle through colours, choose from pre-loaded photos, or set your own images as the background for your shot.

6 - Enjoy the perfect picture

You are done! From start to finish, a simple six step process to beautiful images, all happening in real-time – right in front of your eyes.
