Using Draftsight Premium with EnterprisePDM 2013

Thursday July 18, 2013 at 4:44pm None

DraftSight_LogoFor companies wishing to maximise the use of Draftsight in their organisation with deployment tools, network licensing, access to API’s (LISP, C++, COM & Javascript) plus direct telephone and email support  this can all be achieved with a Draftsight Premium Pack (a subscription-based service which can be renewed on an annual basis)
The inclusion of an API in Draftsight Premium allows developers to interact with Draftsight from other software and one of the first examples of this is the DraftSight Premium Add-in for Enterprise PDM (EPDM)
The DraftSight Premium Add-in for EPDM is a connector for DraftSight Premium that allows a user to perform vault operations from within the DraftSight application. It consists of a dropdown menu, two tool bars and a status window that users can activate to carry out such commands as:

  > Check out and check in files and Xrefs
  > Update title block properties
  > Access to the file data card and file property information
  > Get latest or previous versions of a file and Xrefs
  > Access to settings for the DraftSight Add-in
  > Access to EPDM functions via a command line

The Add-in leverages the existing DWG compatibility allowing for Enterprise to import data from pre-populated Title Block ‘blocks’ as well as populating them automatically with specific lifecycle information relating to Revision level, Checking and Approvals. AS with SOLIDWORKS Drawings, this information updates real-time in the EPDM Preview window when a file passes through a lifecycle change, without the need to have Draftsight / ACAD installed on that PC.
The image below shows a DraftSight Drawing and it’s DataCard with the EPDM toolbars undocked for clarity.

The add-in requires DraftSight V1R3 with the DraftSight Premium Pack and an EPDM Contributor License. Please contact us to discuss upgrading to Premium or for information on the EPDM Connector.
