Flow Parameter Editor

Friday September 27, 2013 at 5:22pm None
Here is a useful Flow Simulation tool that is so well hidden away that it is hardly known about - but can save you a shed load of time if you need to make a global change to a range of Flow parameters - particularly the Bounday Conditions, like inlet pressure or a heat source power value.

Imagine you have set up a Flow project and have run it successfully before copying it so that you can make a design change ('Clone' to use the Flow parlance). For instance in the ball valve shown below, I may want to examine the pressure drop at various angles of valve closure.

I then duplicate lots of projects in anticipation of a Batch run using the 'Clone Project' tool. All is good until I discover that I have made an error in a parameter that affects every project!! For instance I realise that the outlet pressure should be 1 bar and not 1 atmosphere (1.0325 bar). My mistake is in every project!

What do I do? I could manually edit every Static Pressure but that is not much fun. Alternatively, I could use the Parameter Editor tool. This is found under Flow Simulation > Tools > Parameter Editor. It looks like the image below and is a complete listing of all your projects.

By CTRL selecting a parameter you can edit the values in many projects in one go. When you click on 'Apply', each project is updated. If you run lots of Flow projects you will agree that this is invaluable.
