After nearly 75 years, and with the help of SOLIDWORKS, the Bugatti 100p is ready to fly! |
Le Reve Bleu - The Blue Dream
A group of global volunteers including Lawson Model Makers, a Solid Solutions customer and SOLIDWORKS user are on the verge of realising Ettore Bugatti’s dream of taking to the skies.
The Bugatti 100p was a remarkable aeroplane and a truly innovative design.Designed from the outset to be fast, it would have most likely been the fastest thing in the skies with a projected top speed of almost 500MPH.
An ambitious project to build and fly a reproduction of the Bugatti 100P, the most elegant and technologically-advanced airplane of its time.
The most extraordinary airplane of its time…never flew.
The vision is to recreate and share with others – the brief period in the late 1930s when Ettore Bugatti and Louis de Monge collaborated to create this singularly unique airplane....that never flew.
Lawson Model Makers
Lawson Model Makers were asked to reverse engineer what is possibly the most complex component in the aircraft, the nose mounted gearbox. Managing Director, John Lawson used SOLIDWORKS to successfully reverse engineer the gearbox which "slipped in straight away without any problems"
