Description

Armcon Ltd are currently looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Design Engineer to join the Technical team based in Poynton, Stockport. A summary of the main duties can be found below:


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB



  • To become an active member of the Technical Department, contributing to the design, manufacture and on-going support of volumetric concrete mixing machinery and other similar products.

  • To complete 3D designs and 2D manufacturing drawings, including supporting calculations where necessary, to meet design specifications.

  • To support customers, both internal and external, on the manufacture and use of the machinery manufactured by Armcon.

  • To take personal responsibility for active learning and developing the skills and knowledge required to fulfil the role.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Under guidance from the Technical Manager, take design ownership for the development of new products and enhancements to existing products, including 3D models and 2D drawings, completing supporting calculations where necessary, defining/coordinating testing and validation activities, and communicating changes effectively to all stakeholders – both internal and external.

  • Evaluate possible solutions and be able to justify and delivery the best solutions based on the criteria provided.

  • Contribute new ideas for machinery design and problem solving to achieve increased performance, improve ease of use, or to generate a cost reduction.

  • Help to establish effective control measures to ensure quality requirements are continually met.

  • Creation of technical documents, such as operation manuals and technical bulletins.

  • Gain technical knowledge of all areas of the machine to be able to support customers with technical queries, including hydraulics, electrics, pumping equipment and mechanical assemblies.

  • Follow policies and procedures in conjunction with the quality management system.

  • Carry out all duties in a safe manner, and in line with health and safety procedures.

  • Efficient use of time to complete training and daily duties.

  • To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time and which are appropriate to a job of the same or lower grading and within the competence of the employee.

  • To give good and regular attendance.

Your Experience / Skills

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE



  • Degree or HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline, with a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience.

  • Proficient CAD user with experience designing both machined parts and fabrications, preferably with Solidworks.

Salary Range:
From £25,000 to £29,000 per annum
