Mechanical Design Engineer required to join a busy design team for a well-established and industry leading manufacturer of punch press tooling solutions for the sheet metal industry.

The successful candidate will adapt both standard and bespoke designs using SolidWorks 3D CAD software to meet individual customer needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Adapt existing standard designs for forming tools using 3D CAD system (SolidWorks)
• Provide 2D drawings to aid manufacturing
• Create cost effective design solutions suitable for manufacturing
• Interpret customer needs into reliable and consistently performing tooling solutions
• Provide technical assistance to support internal & external sales teams
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and testing personnel
• Ensure that all design work is undertaken with high attention to detail, whilst also achieving department throughput KPI’s.

• Proven experience of SolidWorks software or equivalent
• Proven experience in creating models, assemblies and drawings
• A knowledge of machining processes preferred; time served mechanical apprentice advantageous
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Effective communicator at all levels
• Experience working under pressure to meet demanding deadlines
