Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Solidworks Design Engineer to join the Bailey Street Furniture Group in Adlington, Cheshire. The group are one of the UK’s leading street furniture manufacturers, supplying high quality outdoor solutions, primarily to the construction industry.



You will be conversant with Solidworks 3D CAD, and will use the system to develop and communicate the technical aspects of our products.



You will be comfortable designing simple steel and timber structures, with an aspiration to develop and integrate into our R&D team. Customer specifications will evolve through creation of GA drawings and full manufacturing packs, with accurate BOMs. You must be capable of developing an idea from a customer’s sketch through to an appropriate and manufacturable product. Additionally your critical analysis of our standard products and processes will continue to drive innovation within the business.


Reporting directly to the Senior Design Engineer, with a link to the Operations Director, the key deliverables of this position will be, but not be limited to:



  • Help develop the CAD/Design department in:

    o Process efficiency

    o First time drawing accuracy

    o Priority scheduling

    o Best practice development and continuous improvement


  • Ensure an efficient flow of work is maintained within the design team.

  • Support the sales teams in the creation of general arrangement (GA) drawings required during the quotation and order validation process.

  • Support the operations team in the creation of detailed and accurate manufacturing drawings.

  • Assist in the creation of marketing material for product literature and company website.

Your Experience / Skills

The candidate must have:



  • Sound knowledge of Solidworks 3D CAD (specifically weldments, sheet metal and drawings).

  • Experience in a low-batch, high-variation manufacturing environment, although all applicants and backgrounds will be considered.

  • Ability to communicate confidently with customers, suppliers and group staff.

  • Self-motivation in personal and departmental development.

  • Intermediate technical aptitude in steel and timber fabrication.

  • A methodical, well-researched and pragmatic approach to engineering.

  • Commercial awareness and a solid understanding of the cost implications of design decisions.


Advantageous:



  • Solidworks official certifications as proof of software proficiency.

  • In-depth knowledge of Solidworks custom properties, automation and API.

  • Experience drawing products for public spaces (street furniture, playgrounds etc.

  • Background in steel fabrication.

Qualification:

Extensive knowledge of Solidworks 3D CAD
