Monday to Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm; Friday 7:00am – 1:00pm

Due to continued growth we are now seeking a Product Designer / Design Engineer (Injection Moulding) to join our dedicated, specialist Design & Development team. The successful candidate will be involved in the development of innovative designs from concept through to production; refining concepts; effective use of styling to delight our customers & improving manufacturability and design efficiency.
You will be a self-starter, able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a small team where everybody’s contribution is essential to our success. Knowledge & experience of injection moulding design processes; using injection moulding machines and the ability to share knowledge with others is key to this role.
Key responsibilities
Lead the Injection Moulding work stream for product design, mould tooling and systems validation to support product development and operational tooling.
You will have technical accountability within your allocated projects, responsible for delivering new tooling/moulding process validation activities. This will include designing optimised moulding processes.

You will provide a "hands-on" approach to problem solving. Generating reports on observations, options and recommendations. You will proactively communicate with internal and external customers to assure that components are designed appropriately for manufacture.

Conceptual design, detail design and drawing using SOLIDWORKS
Building and testing prototypes, involving a significant use of 3D printing
Providing ongoing, technical support to the manufacturing process
Demonstrate logical thinking and processes to produce products containing up to 200 components, sourced both internally and externally, involving numerous manufacturing processes.
About you
As an experienced Engineer, looking for improvements and new technical solutions will come naturally to you. Above all you will have hands on experience with injection moulding processes (setting the machines, process trouble shooting etc.)

You will have knowledge of Injection Moulding disciplines with tool design and polymer science experience. As a project manager / engineer you will be experienced in validation (process or product) and risk management process.

You are enthusiastic about what you do, have a positive can do attitude and with adaptability and resilience when under pressure. Logical thinking skills combined with creative flair would be highly advantageous.

You’re qualified to at least HNC (or equivalent) level in product design or engineering and have engineering project or deign experience ideally gained within the plastics industry.
Qualification (or equivalent experience) in Polymer Processing and / or Mould Design is desired
Proficient in the use of surface modelling processes and techniques
Proficient in the use of 3D CAD Software, ideally SOLIDWORKS. Experience in FEA analysis would be an advantage
Experience with 3D printing, fabrication design, aluminium extrusions and sheet metal is desired
Competent in presenting ideas and designs through a wide range of media, including Adobe Photoshop; Illustrator; Rendering software.
