Structural Mechanics Engineer expands on the capability of Structural Performance Engineer allowing both design engineers and simulation experts to analyze nonlinear high-speed events with explicit dynamic steps, conduct random vibration analysis, extract complex frequencies, calibrate advanced material models and process geometry with model preparation.

Assembly Design facilitates the creation of features, patterns, symmetries and engineering connections to define mechanical relations between components. The app also provides tools for creating and managing product structures and publications.

Material Calibration

Material Calibration provides all the tools needed to derive a usable material model from a set of experimental test data. The optimization process minimizes the error between the test data and the material model response by improving the parameters (or coefficients) of that material model: improving both accuracy and stability when used in simulations.

Mechanical Scenario Creation

The Mechanical Scenario Creation app provides tools to define and perform a simulation on a mechanical model. You can create procedures, initial conditions, interactions, restraints, loads and output requests. Procedures include static (linear and nonlinear), static perturbation, quasi-static (Implicit and Explicit), buckling, frequency, complex frequency, harmonic, modal dynamic, random vibration, implicit dynamic, explicit dynamic, thermal steady-state, thermal transient, thermal stress, modal acoustic, harmonic acoustic.

Material Definition

The Material Definition app provides tools to define material model parameters and assign them to material behaviours. A variety of material models are available, including different types of elasticity, plasticity and many failure and damage criteria.

Mesh Creation

The Mesh Creation app provides tools to discretize model geometry into finite element model representations. A variety of element types and formulations are available and include beam, surface, tetrahedron, sweep and hex-dominant. Mesh can be defined through global and local controls, right down to individual nodes, and can also by defined using custom meshing rules for enhanced reusability and control. The Mesh Creation app is found accessed through the Structural Model Creation app.

Model Assembly Design

Model Assembly Design facilitates the creation, deletion and general management of finite element representations, product structures and publications. Automated modelling can be used to accelerate the creation of finite element representations based on customised meshing rules and quality criteria for the smallest and largest models without loading them into memory.

Physics Methods Reuse

Allows you to implement a customized set of action bar commands to define and perform simulations on a model. This simplifies the workflow, detailing the steps and actions relevant to the specific simulation you are running. Physics Methods Reuse, ensures consistency in methods and can be used to guide less experienced users through more complex simulations.

Physics Results Explorer

Physics Results Explorer lets you manage and visualize result data from simulations performed within the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform or from other applications such as Abaqus. You can create and compare graphical output plots, animations, reports and lightweight experience content for use in 3DPlay.
