SolidWorks 2010: A Review of the Best New Features

Friday August 28, 2009 at 9:33am None
Here at Solid Solutions we're starting to get a lot of interest from our customers to find out what the new features are going to consist of.

We could have written a review ourselves, but you might think it was a little biased. Enhancement requests, logged by users through the SOLIDWORKS Customer Portal have always been the main source for the new features and functionality in the new versions of SOLIDWORKS and this year is no exception.

For the 2010 release, more development time than ever has gone into where our customers, and users have wanted it to go. This area is reliability and consistency. SOLIDWORKS is a very mature product now, with 2010 being its 18th release. With over 1million users worldwide, 2010 has gone back to look at the standard functionality and much has been rewritten to make it all work even better.

Much has been added to PhotoView360 too based on Enhancement Requests. Check out the cartoon character (below), modelled by one of our customers, Kevin Pearson from Strong's Plastics, and rendered by Mark Rushton (Solid Solutions Management Ltd) in PhotoView360 2010.

Many of you may have attended our launch days in the past and a date for you diaries is looking like the biggest of our 2010 launch days is going to be November 5th at the Heritage Motor Museum, Gaydon. There are also likely to be smaller local events for those of you unable to attend the main launch day.

A great website for all things CAD, Design, Engineering and Product Development related is www.solidsmack.com, recently Josh wrote up a review of all the new features. So, if you really can't wait to see what is included, you can find that review here

We would love to hear what you think...
