Simulation Reports

Thursday October 13, 2011 at 1:00pm

SOLIDWORKS Simulation has a report writer that generates great looking Word documents - complete with formatted tables, coloured result plots etc. However, did you know you can customise this? Recently I was with a customer who commented he had to keep putting his details (name, company etc) into the report and I realised he had not found out how to customise a standard one. It realliy is very easy and, when you have added your own details, logos, standard text, assumptions, etc, becomes a very useful document - with little effort. Make sure you add as much information as you can - then you won't ever need to repeat it. If you add too much - it is easier to delete than create!

How to do it? Simple! Just go to the Simulation Options in the Simulation drop down menu, and select the 'Default Options' tab. Now go to the Report section at the bottom of the page. You can then customise the report by adding or deleting chapters, entering bespoke data, logos etc. You can do this for all the study types.

Here is a screen shot of the Report Options window ...

... and here is the first page of the completed report ...
