Tuesday September 10, 2013 at 12:18pm None
EnterprisePDM Office Integration
For many of our Customers using EnterprisePDM, Data Management doesn't stop with CAD files. Engineers and other Contributors to the Vault are constantly producing many other documents including reports, calculations, presentations, proposals etc. and in general they are using Microsoft Office. Integral to EPDM 2014, but also compatible with EPDM 2013, the EPDM Office Integration is a SOLIDWORKS supported add-in application for Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and PowerPoint, which enable EPDM operations directly inside the Office user interface.

This greatly enhances the user experience working with EPDM and Office Documents and will significantly streamline the process of working with these files, opening up the benefits of SOLIDWORKS EPDM to other departments within your organization.

Features include:Office Integrator Ribbon Bar
  • A fully integrated ribbon menu bar
  • Check Out, Check In, and Undo Check Out actions
  • Preservation of edits made to checked in (read only) files so you don't lose your work when you realise you forgot to check the file out!
  • "Get latest" version or load previous versions into the active session.
  • Display and edit data card information which may be linked to fields within the Document header / footer or body.
  • Change the Workflow state of Checked In Office documents
  • Direct access to the Search tool
  • Locate the currently open file within the Vault via a single click.
  • Live view of file status information (Lifecycle, Checked out to...)
  • Works with all license types but requires Contributor, CAD Editor or Processor License in order to Check In / Out files and access lifecycle operations.
The SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM integration with Microsoft Office (2007, 2010, 2013) will be available as a separate 32 and 64bit (version of office) download from the SOLIDWORKS Beta area now and will available via the standard Customer Portal Downloads section with the launch of EPDM 2014. For customers using EPDM 2013 today, the SOLIDWORKS EPDM integration is also compatible with this release, so register on the Beta Site now and start benefiting from this new functionality before migrating to SOLIDWORKS EPDM 2014.

Connect to the Beta site now using your existing Customer Portal Account: http://www.SOLIDWORKS.co.uk/beta/
