Flow Simulation Max and Min Table

Wednesday June 11, 2014 at 4:51pm
The Max and Min Table in SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation reports the max and min parameter results - as you would expect. However, what is less well known is that the table interactively identifies the location of the max and min values graphically.

This little gem came up as a result of helping a customer yesterday who wanted to show the min and max values from a Flow project. On reading the detailed Help file I spotted that selecting a row in the table was supposed to do identify the locations graphically. I tried it - and it worked - so I thought I would pass this on.

To see this effect, run a Flow project and then right mouse button click on the 'Results' folder and select 'Min/Max Table'. The table appears as shown below ...

If you then select any row in the table, a small red and a small blue sphere appear in the SOLIDWORKS geometry. The red is the geometric location (in 3D) of the Max value and the blue is the Min value. Here are the max and min pressure values for a section through a ball valve ...

Max and Min Locations

I have used Flow for nearly 10 years and not spotted this detail! It just goes to show that there is always something else to learn.
