SWOOD Nesting

How can I integrate CAD with manufacturing?
SWOOD Nesting

SWOOD Nesting allows for automatic panel optimisation on boards specifically for CNC use. Whether you require specific grain directions, minimise waste material or manually manipulate panels to suit your needs, SWOOD Nesting can let you accomplish all of this directly in SOLIDWORKS.

  • Easily get nested components with automatic nesting features or optimise output with several strategies.
  • Take control of nested components with the option to manually optimise and modify nested outputs.
  • Make the most of your machine with the ability to nest multiple projects at once whilst still taking into account factors like grain direction.
Board Library

The board library allows you to easily capture and reuse panels of different materials, laminates and thicknesses. This allows you to assign materials to the nest quickly and efficiently if this information hasn’t been captured previously in SWOOD Design.

Manual Nesting

Manual nesting allows you to manipulate automated nests to account for additional factors such as panel defects, additional clamping or personal preferences. Machining order and attachment points can also be modified once the position of parts have been set.

Toolpath Setup

Since SWOOD Nesting can utilise SWOOD CAM data this allows you to apply toolpaths to panels before or after nesting allowing you to minimise the time taken to get machine code from design whilst ensuring miscuts are avoided.

SWOOD Nesting Capabilities
