We are looking for an exceptional Middle Weight to Senior Industrial Designer to join our intimate and fast paced consultancy in Sheffield. The ideal candidate should have experience of working as part of a team and independently, to develop exciting and inspirational new products.

You would ideally have a minimum of 4 years’ experience, an excellent knowledge of SolidWorks, Adobe suite. Further knowledge of GD&T, mechanical engineering, principles, and practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual design phase for new projects


• Engineer sketch concepts and visuals into manufactured solutions to maintain design intent


• Design innovative and exciting new products and drive them through to manufacture


• Liaise one to one with clients throughout the development process to build relationships


• Guide and provide creative direction to the design team & lead decisions


• Develop disciplined project proposals, schedules, and budgets


• Creation of detailed product design specifications


• Flexibility to work and manage a range of projects concurrently


• Mentor juniors to develop new talent


• Support the Team to deliver exceptional design


• Generate sales and pitches for new business with confidence


• Liaise with tool makers and suppliers to offer production engineering solutions


• International & UK travel occasionally where necessary, to visit clients and suppliers


• Preparation and management of design data including 3D CAD models, Assembly drawings, Bills-of-Materials, Parts drawings to BS 8888 and related documentation


• Rational problem solving of design and manufacturing hurdles


• The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the projects they manage and be expected to deliver new and exciting products on time, to specification and to budget
