About Stock Sweepers
Stock Sweepers is proud to be the only British-owned manufacturer of heavy duty truck-mounted road sweepers. Our family-run company employs around 50 people, and the relaxed, but driven atmosphere is what makes us the best at what we do.
What makes this role unique?
You will be at the forefront of the development of our trucks. The parts you design will help our trucks sweep for some very important clients, in locations all over the world - including Australia, Canada, and Poland - as well as for councils, airports, and even on the Silverstone race track during the British Formula 1 Grand Prix!
Job Overview
This position is a fantastic opportunity for a CAD technician who wishes to develop their career, whilst also seeing the real-world results of their efforts. You will be using SolidWorks to develop and design various parts of our road sweepers, which are then sent for cutting and bending. As well as this, you will also be creating new drawings of physical, pre-existing parts as they come across your desk. Your role will also include the drawing of schematic diagrams. Secondary to your role as a CAD technician, you will also be asked to assist in providing IT support to the company.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Developing existing parts and drawing new parts – You will amend and develop our existing database of drawings of various parts of our sweepers. The amendments may be requested in order to accommodate new designs, or parts that have been added to the sweeper. You will also create new drawings based on physical parts that are given to you. You will need to have a keen eye for detail, as this involves accurate measurements using a digital Vernier scale, digital angle finder, etc.
Creating schematic diagrams – Using SmartDraw, you will develop and improve our vehicle schematic diagrams. These include electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams, and will be printed in our trucks’ technical manuals to help customers troubleshoot potential technical issues.
Providing IT support – You will also be asked to assist with any general IT-related tasks. This will include investigating and solving issues with IT equipment, purchasing and setting up new equipment, and maintaining our website, email service, etc.
Personal Qualities
A friendly and outgoing individual would fit in well with our open office environment, and it is essential that you are also able to communicate well with the staff in the workshop. Being unafraid to get hands-on with the trucks and parts will be a major benefit. The right candidate will be flexible in their work, and able to prioritise, due to the ever-changing workload.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience. This is to be discussed when applicants attend an interview.
We have in place a company-wide quarterly bonus scheme.
We are looking for somebody with at least one year’s experience in a CAD technician role, or similar. Experience in a manufacturing role – vehicle manufacture in particular – would be advantageous, but is not essential.
