The Project Design Engineer will carry out the design, development & specification of bespoke machinery and equipment used in critical & challenging applications. Due to the bespoke nature of the equipment, you will have a lot of flexibility wrt design intent, material selection and manufacturing techniques, albeit adhering to internal quality standards, customer requirements and ensuring conformity to various related standards. The role will require extensive communication with key stakeholders such as customers, sales, procurement, and the manufacturing team. You will be required to provide project updates and carry out regular design reviews internally and externally, visiting customer’s sites where necessary. You will be expected to support the manufacturing team during the assembly, commissioning & installation phase of a project as well as supporting sales by developing technical proposals.



Design, development, and specification of bespoke equipment related to pressure & flow, machine safety, product handling and system automation.



Careful selection of materials and manufacturing techniques to ensure correct fit, form, functionality, and value.



Ensure that design outputs conform to internal quality standards, customer requirements and industry directives & standards.



Output accurate CAD models, technical drawings in line with BS8888, Production BOM’s and other Technical Documentation for key stakeholders.



Chair regular project design reviews with key stakeholders.



Non-conformance and Engineering Change Management.



Providing engineering support for all departments.

Your Experience / Skills


  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.

  • Up to date knowledge of materials, manufacturing techniques and production processes such as machining, welding, surface treatments etc.

  • Ability to carry out hand calculations (pressure, force, torque, bending moments, hoop stress, shear stress, flow, velocity etc).

  • Proficient in the use of MS office applications (Word, Excel etc.)

  • Effective communication, both written and verbal

  • Knowledge of industry directives & standards (specific training will be given)

  • Knowledge and understanding of the full product lifecycle process.

Qualification:
Proven hands-on experience as a Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer.

HNC, HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related subject. (Will consider relevant experience and other related internal/external certification).

Experience working with and building/assembling bespoke equipment, machine & systems including hydraulics and pneumatics or associated components.

Familiar with critical or challenging equipment/environments where hazards such as high pressure, heavy loads, dangerous chemicals and/or automated machinery are present.

Basic usage of 2D & 3D CAD (Advanced training will be given).

Must have driving license.
