Role: Development Engineer

Description
To ensure new customer projects are delivered to the correct quality, on time, and on budget.
This will involve all aspects of tooling and jig design and their acquisition, development moulding, post moulding machining, sample inspection, and for creating the related documentation, you will be working as part of a team.
You will also be responsible for process and material R&D.
This will involve all aspects of the processes involved in Rotational Moulding and Reaction Injection Moulding, and the materials and methods of mixing and dispensing that are used.
Your Experience / Skills
Plastics: Ideally experience of rotational moulding or RIM but experience of lower volume plastic processes (vacuum forming, GRP etc.) will also be considered.
CAD: In depth knowledge of SolidWorks and good knowledge of data translation.
Product design: Experience of some form of product design, or CAD skills transferable to product design (such as designing tooling, jigs, fixtures) is essential.
Jig & tool design: Experience of jig and tool design, or some knowledge of the requirements for jigs and tools is essential.
Product inspection: understanding product measurement is essential, a good understanding of contactless measurement systems (laser, structured light) as well as contact measurement systems would be useful.
General software skills: proficient in Microsoft office and general Windows applications, knowledge of statistical analysis software would be useful.
Customer relations: A previous role involving customer or supplier contact is desirable.
Interpersonal skills: good interpersonal skills are essential as you will be working as part of an internal team and with customers and suppliers.
Qualification:
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, candidates with an HND/HNC or equivalent will also be considered.
