Alloy Bodies work alongside the major manufacturers of commercial vehicles to create solutions that improve the operations of our customers. With a thriving business and an increasing requirement for product and process development, we are looking for a new recruit to join our expanding engineering department as Technical and Homologation Engineer.

The key responsibility for this role will be to work with government departments to co-ordinate the legal approval of vehicles from 3.5 tonnes to 26 tonnes and advise colleagues on the legislatory requirements for the construction of our vehicles.

The day-to-day duties to fulfil this role include;
- Working with manufacturers such as Mercedes, Peugeot and Ford to be aware of any changes to their vehicles that may affect the completion of the vehicles and their entry into service.
- Offering advice and insight to various departments within the company on the possibilities and limitations on the design and construction of vehicles. Using an in depth knowledge of vehicle legislation to advise on the design of new vehicles and components.
Co-ordinating the approval of special projects and bespoke vehicles.
- Collating data on vehicles produced to ensure quality, standards and legality.
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure the products currently used meet the required standards and to seek out new solutions.
- Assisting in the design of new vehicles/components and the development of existing product lines.

Your Experience / Skills

Ideally the candidate will possess, or be expected to achieve, a degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering. Work experience and industrial placements, both inside and outside of engineering will be an advantage and should be outlined in your application.
