We’re looking for an ambitious Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, with significant experience in the design and development of precision micro-mechanical or optical devices, to join our team and drive the development of next generation world leading all-optical switch technology.
About the Role
HUBER+SUHNER Polatis designs and manufactures all-optical fibre-optic switches which make and maintain their optical connections by means of our patented DirectLight™ beam steering technology. Our products allow the efficient management of ever-increasing data volumes and are a key building block in the evolution towards software defined networks.
In this new role, you’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary development team to design and develop core technology for our optical switches. You’ll be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the product from conceptual design and analysis through to qualification and transfer to production. Your responsibilities will include:
• Design and development of core technology for next generation optical switches
• Analysis and test of precision micro-mechanical designs
• Integration and packaging of optical and electrical sub-assemblies
• Liaison with other internal teams and subcontractors
• Manufacturing and performance improvements to existing products
