Description
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Electronics and Instrumentation Design Engineer to join our new multi-disciplinary Healthcare Photonics team, working on a variety of projects in the Medical Technologies, Healthcare and Life Sciences markets. You will be responsible for providing electronic and instrumentation design knowledge by supporting the design, development and testing of photonics-enabled products.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• To provide in-house electronics and instrumentation design and development services in support of projects.
• To design and develop PCB and control systems for next generation medical devices and provide operational electronics development, prototype design and testing - both analogue and digital.
• To create embedded system design and implementation and to develop appropriate software development.
• To support the Procurement and Engineering teams for specification, tendering, factory and site acceptance tests for new equipment.
• To collaborate with engineering colleagues to find robust production intent solutions, including electrical safety design.
Your Experience / Skills
Essential skills, qualifications and experience
Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or Physics.
Good knowledge and understanding of processes of electronic product development and realisation and the operation and design of electronic systems and circuits.
Experience in:
• Design, development or manufacture of electronic devices
• Circuit board assembly for prototypes and small production runs
• Instrument development
• Embedded software and I/O (input/output)
Desirable skills, experience
Good knowledge and understanding of electronic device operation and fabrication as well as electronic sensors, measurement systems and instrumentation.
Proven ability to build and manage supply chains.
Experience in:
• Design, development or manufacture of photonic systems or photonics-enabled products
• Design, development or manufacture of electronic devices
• Practical use of simulation tools for electronic design
• Practical use of automated and manual tools for surface mount electronics assembly
• Maintaining design history files to ISO standards including ISO9001 and IS013485

Salary Range:
£35,000 - £45,000 per annum
