Description
Clean Air is a leading specialist in fume cupboard and fume extract system design, manufacture, installation and maintenance.
We need an additional 3D CAD Designer to work in our design team. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, dynamic, and growing company with a blue-chip customer base.
Reporting to the Design Manager, the role includes clean sheet designs as well as modifications to existing products to suit individual customer requirements. We currently have a pipeline of great ideas that need turning into great products.
The candidate should have excellent 2D and 3D CAD skills in solid modelling, technical drawing, and an understanding of product data management.
The role will primarily use Solidworks but will also include some 2D DraftSight/AutoCAD work.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of industry experience within a similar CAD design position.
*Experience of working within sheet metal design and drafting is essential*.
The candidate should be seeking a long-term permanent position with future training and development offered.
They should have a good understanding of materials and manufacturing methods. Our products are currently manufactured predominately from fabricated steel and aluminium, plastics, glass, and other panel materials.
The role involves:
Adapting designs of established product lines to suit customer’s requirements.
Issuing and control of the relevant manufacturing information to colleagues and suppliers.
Optimising designs for cost efficient manufacture and installation.
Helping to develop new designs from concept to finished product.
Having a logical approach to problem solving and awareness of manufacturing limitations.
Control of CAD drawings/revisions, BOMs, and product specifications.
Liaising with suppliers.
The ideal candidate should be a Solidworks enthusiast and be competent with these essential Solidworks skills:

In-context assembly design

The role is office based. A presence on the shop floor for a limited time each week liaising with manufacturing colleagues will be required. There may be occasional visits to customer's sites and supplier’s premises.
38.5 hours per week, with early Friday afternoon finish.
