SOLIDWORKS PhotoView 360 Training Agenda

Length: 1 day

Prerequisites:
Description:

PhotoView 360 is a SOLIDWORKS Professional add-on product replacing the now retired PhotoWorks product from 2011. It allows users to generate photorealistic images from their SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD files.

Learn tips and tricks that can bring your images to life, lighting and material effects. Understand the appearance mapping capabilities to create fantastic marketing images showing your customers exactly what the final product will look like.

Lesson 1-3: Introduction

In this introductory lesson, the user will learn how PhotoView 360 has been developed since its first release and the 3 three levels of visualization available to SOLIDWORKS users. The key areas of the user interface will be explained and the available options will be introduced.

Lesson 4-5: Basic Workflow

The user will learn the suggested workflow for producing a rendered image and practise this process on an assembly model. Appearances, scenes, decals and lighting will be discussed. The preview options will be introduced and the first rendered image will be created.

Lesson 6: Appearance Mapping

Lesson 6 explains how to apply appearances to models which have a textured/complex pattern. The methodology and the available image files that can be used will be explained.

Lesson 7: Decals

The user will practise applying decal images to parts, learn how to apply image masks to filter the image shown and set illumination options in their model.

Lesson 8: Viewpoints

We will look at using cameras to set views we wish to save and capture. Utilising cameras closely follows the actions of a photographer and we can set the focal length, image focus and image content.

Chapter 9: Scenes and Lighting

Lesson 9 discusses the use of scenes which make up the area surrounding our CAD model. Scenes include the background, floor and environment and we will practise adjusting the scenery and the options available to us.

Chapter 11: Display States & Configurations

Lesson 11 teaches the user how to use display states to represent our model with various appearances and to model physical changes with configurations with the aim of producing a render representing the product range.

Chapters 12-15: Advanced Options

This lesson will provide users with knowledge of how to create faster previews and key tips for getting the best final render quality. Contour rendering will be used to produce added detail to our image. Advice will be given on choosing an appropriate file format for your render output and how it is possible to speed up render times with the use of Network Rendering.
