Here’s a quick overview of some methods of capturing images and videos when using SOLIDWORKS:
Image and Video Capture
With the file open, go to the drop downs at the top of the window:
View > Screen Capture
From here you can select:
Image Capture – Will capture the active window or viewport and put it on the clipboard.
Record Video – Captures a video recording of the graphics area and stores using the settings you define in the initial pop up window.
You can always add the image capture toolbar to your command manager by right clicking on it and selecting “Screen Capture”.
You can also export as JPEG, TIF or PNG by going to the drop downs at the top of the window, File > Save As.
In the pop up window select the appropriate format from the drop down menu.
Clicking the “Options” button opens up the export options window and allows you to select the settings you are after.
Windows Capture Tools
Search “Snip” in the windows search and open up the “Snipping Tool” programme. This allows you to select areas to capture at any point.
