Course Overview

The routing aspect of SOLIDWORKS is available as a Premium add-in. Electrical routing allows you to complete your electrical circuits in a fast and accurate fashion.

Discover the component libraries within SOLIDWORKS and the ability to create parts lists and wiring diagrams for assembly and manufacture.

NOTE: This course is available as part of the Silver, Gold & Platinum Training Passports.

What You'll Learn

Course Agenda

Lesson 1: Fundamentals of Routing

The first lesson of this course introduces the user to the basics of SOLIDWORKS routing, covering the different types of routes and the roles of routing components. The user will also learn how to set SOLIDWORKS routing file locations and settings.

Lesson 2: Basic Electrical Routing

Lesson 2 teaches the user how create an electrical route and add components to it, in addition to this they will use auto routing to create route geometry and learn how to add a wire from the library.

Lesson 3: Routing with Clips

In lesson 3 the user will learn how to route through existing clips and add clips whilst auto routing. The user will also learn how to edit, split and add splices, to a route.

Lesson 4: Electrical Routing Components

In lesson 4 the user is introduced to the routing component wizard and the electrical libraries. The user will learn how to create and end connector component and a clip component.

Lesson 5: Standard Cables and Reusing Routes

Upon completion of lesson 5 the user will be able to create, modify and use standard cables as well as use fixed length routes and reuse existing routes.

Lesson 6: Electrical Data Import

Lesson 6 helps the user to understand electrical libraries including cable and component libraries. During this lesson the user will create a From/To list to define connections and components, use route guidelines to help define routes and re-route splines through clips.

Lesson 7: Electrical Drawings

In lesson 7 the user will learn how to flatten a route for a route drawing using annotation and using manufacture, they will then add tables to the route drawing.

Lesson 8: Electrical Conduits

The final lesson of this course teaches the user how to create rigid and flexible electrical conduit routes and how to use 3D sketching to create rigid pipe routes. The user will learn how to modify cable/wire libraries and create electrical conduit bill of materials as well as add an electrical bill of materials.
