Course Overview
Product and manufacturing information (PMI) can now be captured directly in 3D. The SOLIDWORKS MBD course focuses on the fundamental skills and concepts central to successfully publishing 3D PDF and eDrawings files. This includes best methods for presenting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing data (GD&T).
NOTE: This course is available as part of the Gold & Platinum Training Passports.
What You'll Learn
Course Agenda
Lesson 1 –Introduction to SOLIDWORKS MBD
In the first lesson of this course the user will be taught how to prepare geometry for a 3D PDF file and understand how DimXpert is used. They will also learn about the role of annotation views, the concept of a 3D view and how to publish to a 3D PDF.
Lesson 2 – Using Feature Dimensions and Annotation Views
Lesson 2 teaches the user about annotation views and how to manipulate them. The user will learn how to reassign dimensions to different annotation views and create new annotation views. Adding reference dimensions and the use of tables will also be covered.
Lesson 3 – Capturing 3D Views
Upon completion of lesson 3 the user will be able to create 3D views for parts, create numerous types of views and make use of dynamic annotation views.
Lesson 4 – 3D PDF Template Editor
Lesson 4 introduces the user to the 3D PDF template editor, they will learn how to use and modify a 3D PDF template.
Lesson 5 – Using DimXpert
Upon completion of lesson 5 the user will be able to recognise DimXpert annotations and selections as well as generate tolerance schemes automatically and analyse the state of constraint.
Lesson 6 – MBD and Assembly Models
The use of assembly files within MBD will be explored in lesson 6 including the additional settings available and the use of BOMs and balloons.
